ATCHAFALAYA BASIN ROYALTY
Chelsea Veronie and Newton Dupuis were chosen as Queen and King of the 2009 Atchafalaya Basin Festival to be held Saturday, Nov. 14 in Henderson.
Chelsea is the daughter of Rick and Melissa Veronie.

Atchafalaya Basin Festival King - Newton Dupuis

Mr. Dupuis is 77 years old and retired for Southern Pacific Railroad as a station agent telegraph operator. He is a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. He has served as a member of the Parish Council from 1978 - 1986 and was president for six of those years, Holy Name Society from 1980 - 1990 serving as president for 3 years, charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Deputy Grand Knight for several years and trustee for three years, Our Lady of Mercy Trustee for four years, Eucharistic Minister and Lay Reader for over 30 years, a lay minister adminstering to home bound parishoners and is serving on the Collection Counters Crew. Mr. Dupuis has also served on the Diocesian Committee for the Bishops Services Appeal for 2 years. He has received the Bishop's Martin Luther King Award.
